What You’ll Need

Before you begin, gather your supplies:

  • Split cake face paints in your chosen colors
  • Flat brushes (angled and straight) in various sizes
  • Round brushes (No. 3, 4, and 6)
  • Large paddle brush
  • Finger dauber or petal sponge
  • Clean water, cloth, or sponge for removing excess paint

Round Petal Flower

1. Load Your Brush:
Use a short, angled flat half-inch brush. Dip in water, tap off the excess, and load from a split cake—white on the heel, pink or magenta on the tip.

2. Create a Guide:
Paint a simple starfish shape to help place your petals.

3. Paint the Petals:
Lay the brush flat, curve the tip outward, then sweep back toward the center. Repeat for all petals, reloading with pale pink for the center area.

Wavy Flower Effect

For softer, more playful petals, lead with the brush tip and gently wiggle it as you paint. Keep the heel in place while bringing the petal back toward the center. Fill the inside with a light rose color for contrast.

Double-Dip Flower Hack

1. Activate the Paint:
Spray the split cake lightly with water.

2. Load the Brush:
Dip a large brush into white paint, then pinch or swirl off the extra.

3. Add Second Color:
Dip just the tip into your second color (any vibrant shade). Always test on your arm before painting.

This technique lets you paint many flowers quickly with beautiful two-tone petals.

Pointed Tip Petals

Using a half-inch flat brush, load blue on the tip and lime or aqua on the heel. Press a “V” shape, drag upward, and sweep to meet at the top. Repeat for five petals.

Thin Petals

A No. 4 round brush is perfect for delicate flowers. Press a small dot, flatten the brush, and lift—repeat around a central point. Add a yellow dot in the middle for a bright finish.

Rose Flower Face Painting

Load an angled brush with darker pink on the heel and lighter pink on the tip. Using gentle wiggles, form the rose base.

Let it dry, then add inner petals.

Creating Rosebuds:

Paint a single petal and then use a “Nike swoosh” stroke to form the bud.

Use a clean half-angle brush with green paint to add a bud shape.

Tips: The longer you use the loaded colors, the more they blend into each other.

Outlining and Finishing:

Reload your brush if needed and draw a single round petal at the top.

Add a green leaf by using a half-angle brush loaded with green split cake.

Carnation Petals

Paint teardrop shapes with purple using a No. 4 round brush. Add depth by dragging white over the purple with a smaller brush. Finish with a green stem in a simple “V” shape.

Frangipani Flowers

Use a No. 6 flora brush loaded with white, then dip the tip in yellow. Follow a starfish guide, pressing and flattening for smooth petals. Outline lightly with white and add a leaf in darker green.

Tulip Face Painting

With a short angled ¾-inch brush, load white on the tip and shades of pink on the base. Press into a “V” shape for the side petals, then add a third, smaller petal in the center. Finish with a green leaf and central vein.

Finishing Touches for Any Flower Face Painting

  • Add glitter for sparkle.
  • Outline petals with thin, soft lines for definition.
  • Vary petal size and shape for more natural designs.

Conclusion

With these easy flower face painting techniques, you can create a variety of beautiful flower designs on your face. Whether it’s a rose, a carnation, a frangipani, or a tulip, practice these simple steps to master your art. Enjoy creating and share your amazing face paintings with friends and fans!
